In previous work, we investigated on the improvement of wireless power transmission efficiency by inserting a non-feeding relay coil for magnetic field coupling wireless power transmission. By appropriately inserting the relay coil between the transmitting and the power receiving coils, the power transmission efficiency η could be increased. The maximum power transmission efficiency η_max is also obtained by optimizing the matching circuit connected to the power transmission and the power reception units. However, the matching circuit changes the electrical characteristics of the power receiving coil and the power transmitting coil, which may affect the improvement of inserting the relay coil. In this work, we proposed to adopt load impedance Z_L connected in series with all coils’ port. This reduced the discrepancy between transmission efficiencyη and maximum transmission efficiency η_max. It was also revealed that the insertion of the relay coil was effective to improve η_max as well as η by setting all coils’ characteristics the same. |
