Mammography is the main method for breast cancer screening. However, it involves radiation exposure, and visualization of lesions in high-density breasts may be difficult. The effectiveness of MRI examination for breast cancer has been clarified using a contrast medium. However, it is necessary to develop non-contrast examinations for adaptation to countermeasure-type examinations to address concerns regarding side-effects and examination costs. On the other hand, SWI, an MRI technique, is excellent for visualizing micro-calcifications. We assessed the applicability of SWI in breast cancer screening by examining its ability to detect micro-calcifications in a breast phantom. The results indicate that the proposed method has the potential to detect micro-calcifications in breast cancer tissues. |
