Microwave power transmission is expected as the next-generation technology to realize ubiquitous power supply. Microwave power transmission in the near field requires the precise estimation of direction and distance in order to improve beam collection efficiency. We propose a new direction and distance estimation method with improved near-field DOA Matrix and ESPRIT method for a wireless power transfer. The precision of the estimation is dependent on element spacing, and extending element spacing is required. In the conventional near-field DOA matrix method, ambiguity occurs when the element spacing is more than a quarter of the wavelength. The present research resolves the ambiguity of direction by combining ESPRIT method. The proposed method increased the restriction of the distance in each antenna element by twice, which contributes to reducing the mutual coupling. As a result, the precise direction and distance estimation. The feasibility of the proposed method has been shown by numerical simulation. |
