Development of underwater sound wave propagation simulator handling sound source movement and element directivity
Kouhei Suzuki, Shingo Yoshizawa (Kitami Inst. of Tech.) SIS2020-37
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Communication performance and position accuracy in underwater acoustic communication and localization are affected by sound wave reflection and Doppler shift. Accurate sound wave propagation modeling is indispensable for simulation evaluation. A ray-tracing method is widely used in acoustic simulation, however it has high complexity and time consuming when combined with underwater acoustic communication and localization in simulation. In this paper, we present a method for modeling acoustic propagation in source movement and element directivity using a ray-tracing mirror image method that enables short time analysis. We also report the comparison of simulation and measured results.
