[Poster Presentation] A Hearable Data Hiding Technique for Musical Pieces Utilizing Reverb Effects

(in English) A hearable data hiding technique utilizing characteristics of musical pieces has been proposed. This technique is called as “Tone Code”. In Tone Code, an embedded signal is modulated as a musical component based on the secret message in order that the signal can be harmonized with other musical components. The modulated signal can be naturally recognized as a sound signal played by an additive musical instrument such as a synthesizer. In our previous studies, code progressions, distortions of electric guitars and drum beats have been utilized as the musical components conveying secret messages. In this study, a scheme to embed secret messages with reverb effects is proposed. The experiments have been executed for assessment of the extraction errors as well as subjective quality evaluation of the stego musical pieces. The results show that the proposed scheme can extract the embedded messages successfully at the sacrifice of the sound quality.
