Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Bats acquire spatial information by emitting ultrasound pulse and processing echoes from the surroundings. We have clarified the peculiarity and unique tactics of a simple sensing mechanism of bats with 1 transmitter (mouth or nose) and 2 reception (both ears) through various behavioral experiments. In this study, we measured the echoes from targets with
difference shape and conducted shape classification by SVM. We considered how the bats recognize the shape of object with a small amount of information based on the reflected waveform by FDTD simulation.
