Small satellites missions has increased and gained much attention not only near the Earth but also far from the Earth, deep space. Satellites near the Earth can use GPS signals, therefore orbit determination of them easily accomplished. On the other hand, satellites away from the Earth, such as Lunar orbiting satellites and deep space probes cannot utilize GPS signals and their orbit determinations become harder due to resource constraints of communication device. This work presents a simple one-way ranging method for orbit determination of small satellites which are limited in performance of communication device. This method allows us to remove uncertainties of clock on a satellite and the ground station using a simple phase-locked loop processing. |
