A Study on Control Traffic Reduction Method Depending on the Number of neighbor nodes in Wireless Ad Hoc Network

(in English) AODV is a typical routing protocol for wireless ad hoc network. When AODV starts to construct a route, rebroadcast of the control packet RREQ is repeated, and it causes increase of packet collision and overhead, resulting in performance degradation of the network. In this paper, aiming the control traffic reduction, and the fairness improvement of RREQ rebroadcasting opportunities among nodes in AODV, a novel method that changes the RREQ rebroadcasting probability of the node non-linearly depending on the number of neighbor nodes is proposed. The proposed method is implemented on a network simulator and simulation results are evaluated.
