Due to the spread of helicopter emergency medical services and doctor cars, pre-hospital medical care is increasing. At an outdoor emergency site, intravenous fluid may be administered for patients with severe trauma whose circulating blood volume has decreased. Especially in cold regions such as Hokkaido, intravenous fluid in a cold environment is expected. Therefore, there is concern about the promotion of hypothermia due to the decrease in intravenous fluid temperature. Therefore, we investigated in detail the degree of decrease in infusion temperature in a cold environment with the aim of establishing measures to prevent the decrease in intravenous temperature. The intravenous fluid condition in a cold environment was reproduced in the constant temperature room of our university, and the intravenous fluid temperature at the end of the circuit just before flowing into the patient was measured. As a result, it was clarified that the intravenous fluid temperature at the end of the circuit was cooled by cold air when flowing through the infusion circuit, and dropped to near the outside air temperature. Further, when the infusion circuit was covered with a heat insulating material and the intravenous fluid was performed, the decrease in the intravenous fluid temperature at the end of the circuit was a gradual change. From these facts, it is considered that a decrease in the intravenous fluid temperature in a cold environment can be prevented by keeping or heating the infusion circuit. |
