Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report proposes and experimentally assesses two methods that estimate the number of targets using a Capon spectrum for microwave biosensors. A peak detection or a machine-learning-based classification technique is used to detect the number of living bodies in our method. The experiment using 4 × 4 MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) radar is carried out in an indoor environment. The number estimation results with the targets up to 3 showed that the machine-learning-based method marked 89.8% accuracy while the peak detection method yielded 69.5% accuracy.
