Dynamic Cell Optimization for HAPS multi-cell Configuration Considering User Distribution

(in English) HAPS(High-Altitude Platform Station) attracts attention as a new communication platform which provides wide area communication services directly to smartphones on the ground from the stratosphere. HAPS is especially expected to recover communication services immediately in a time of disaster. We proposed an optimization method for cell configuration for HAPS mobile communication depending on the number of cells. However, we only considered uniform user distribution and used the optimized parameters, such as beamwidth and antenna direction, as fixed parameters. However, user distribution will not likely to be uniform in the real situation. Furthermore, the user distribution may change depending on the time. We proposed an active phased array antenna which enables us to change antenna parameters dynamically. The dynamic cell optimization to change the location of cells and size considering user distribution can be possible by using this antenna, which were difficult for conventional terrestrial networks. In this paper, we propose a dynamic cell optimization method depending on the user distribution and clarify the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.
