Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we investigated the vegetation attenuation characteristics at the 920 MHz band in line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) farm field for designing the area coverage. Regarding the vegetation attenuation characteristics in NLOS environments, the coefficient related to frequency and the distance attenuation coefficient were larger than those of the representative ITU-R model, and each coefficient tended to be larger when the antenna height was higher than the tree height. We proposed the vegetation attenuation model on the basis of these characteristics. The comparison results between the measurement and prediction results revealed that prediction results is similar tendency to the measurement results, and the root mean square value (RMSE) was improved about 7.5 dB. In addition, in the LOS environments, the direct wave and the reflected wave from the tree are dominant path. Therefore, we calculated the path loss in LOS environment using the two-ray model and the RMSE value is about 5.6 dB.
