Performance degradation induced by Floating Matters in Underwater Wireless Optical Communication Systems

(in English) This research is concerning technology of underwater wireless optical communication systems and aimed to reveal the effect of floating matters which block a part of optical beam on system performances. In this paper, we study statistical properties of intensity fluctuations induced by floating matters and BER degradations by numerical simulations. We focus on the impact of beam radius on the performance of the system. Based on the simulations, also power penalty is obtained. Our simulation results indicate that the BER performance can be improved considerably by using an optical beam with larger radius.
