CubeSats using amateur radio communication system have been developed and operated by lots of educational institutions all over the world, and they are recognized as the first step of nano-satellite development and utilization. Though amateur radio CubeSat has various merits including low cost for the ground station, the conventional amateur satellite transmitters for CubeSat have quite low communication speed so that it is not easy to carry out the space mission with the amateur radio CubeSat that requires large amount of downlink data. The CubeSat “NEXUS” achieved the space verification of the original miniature transmitters with higher communication speed developed by JAMSAT and Nihon University, and NEXUS team evaluated the performance of the communication system including ground station. This paper introduces NEXUS and reports the evaluation results of the communication system. |
