Circular Loop Antenna Array Integrated on Low-Permittivity Substrate for OAM Multiplexing Communication Systems

(in English) Recently, OAMmultiplexing using orbital angular momentum (OAM) of electromagnetic waves has been attracting attention, and it is expected to expand the communication capacity significantly. On the other hand, near-field communication using smartphones is becoming more popular. It is expected that mounting an OAM communication antenna on smartphones and other devices will greatly improve the communication capacity. In this paper, the integration of an antenna array with a circular loop antenna array is studied and evaluated for the practical application of OAM communication with a reflector. Teflon was used as an integrated substrate because of its low dielectric constant. Loops are placed on the surface of the board, and the terminals are pulled out to the backside of the board through vias, in anticipation of the placement of baluns and matching circuits. In the configuration with a communication distance of 4mm and 180 degturned terminal orientation, the best communication characteristics are obtained and a Isolation-of-transmission of 20.8 dB, which is comparable to that of the conventional method. In addition, the relationship between the channel matrix of the 8-terminal I/O circuit, eigenvalue and eigenmode transmission is discussed. In the case of OAM-MIMO communication using signal processing for OAM communication, it is considered important to perform efficient eigenmode transmission using only an antenna array because it is equivalent to having infinite Isolation-of-transmittion. This paper introduces eigenvalues corrected for antenna return loss and evaluates the efficiency of eigenmode transmission.
