Psychological research on curiosity, which began in the latter half of the 19th century, became popular in the 20th century, and later research on epistemic curiosity, which is one of the subordinate concepts of curiosity, began. In particular, epistemic curiosity is the curiosity whose main fruits are knowledge rather than physical rewards such as money or food and is said to be one type of intrinsic motivation, which is an important concept in education. In this study, we investigated the effect of epistemic curiosity on learning. As a result, subjects with strong epistemic curiosity tended to spend less time on experimental tasks in total. However, since the total number of subjects was small, future studies must increase the number of subjects and then conduct a more general survey. |
