We demonstrate an ultra-compact interferometer integrated on silicon photonic chip for distributed sensing using optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR). The interferometer consists of silicon photonic splitters, loop back mirrors, edge couplers and delay line formed by strip waveguide. The footprint of the integrated interferometer is less than 0.5 x 8.5 mm. Frequency of generated interference signal was experimentally measured to be 1 kHz. The interferometer can be used to acquire a signal from long length fiber Bragg grating sensor. |
