A Study on Reduction of Electromagnetic Coupling between Symmetric Antennas Using Even-odd Mode Analysis

(in English) In recent information terminals, MIMO technology that uses multiple antennas is often used for stable communication of large amounts of data. Since information terminals are required to be miniaturized, we want to place multiple antennas close to each other in the terminal and minimize the volume required for the antennas without using additional parts as much as possible. However, in this case, strong electromagnetic coupling occurs between the antennas, and the desired communication distance and communication capacity cannot be obtained.
This report presents a design method for reducing coupling between two antennas with the goal of not using lumped constant components. First, a known MIMO antenna in which the antennas are connected by a bridge line is analyzed in even-odd modes to establish a design method. Next, using the proposed method, the coupling between two element mono-poles is reduced without a bridge line connection between antennas, and the matching circuit is not used by devising the antenna shape. It showed effectiveness.
