In this work, we present real-time digital signal processing (DSP) design on a single-chip field-programmable (FPGA) radio platform for high-fidelity, low-latency analog-to-digital compression (ADX) radio-over fiber fronthaul for 5G and beyond radio access network. Real-time experimental results show that 16-channel 61.44MHz OFDM signals of 5G NR-class, which corresponds to 32-Gb/s rate required by CPRI, can be transported with only about 4-Gb/s optical OOK interface, while measured error vector magnitude (EVM) fully supports 1024QAM after 23.5km fiber transmission. |
