Performance Evaluation of Wave Source Localization Based on Maximum Likelihood Estimation in NLOS Environments.

(in English) In order to mitigate the spectrum scarcity in wireless communication systems such as wireless LAN and mobile cellular systems, it is proposed to operate secondary systems on frequency band spatially and temporarily unused by primary systems. In order to avoid interference with the primary systems from the secondary system, it is important to localize wave sources in the primary systems. In this article, we propose a novel scheme to localize a single wave source from DoAs (Direction-of-Arrivals) observed at multiple receivers. In the proposed scheme, we assume that wireless signals are propagated on NLOS (Non-Line-Of-Sight) paths between a wave source and a receiver. By modeling DoA (Direction of Arrivals) of the signals observed at each receiver with a von Mises distribution, the location of the wave source is estimated by maximum likelihood estimation. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme with simulation experiments.
