Performance Evaluation of Multiplexing Method of Multiple Service Channels to Maximize Integrated System Throughput under Finite Traffic Model

(in English) The fifth generation mobile communication system and beyond are expected to support various wireless communication services such as massive machine-type communications (mMTC), ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC), and enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). We have reported a semi-static frequency bandwidth allocation method and a dynamic frequency bandwidth allocation method, among service channels to maximize the defined system throughput which integrates the system performance of all services. In this work, we evaluate the system performance of our reported multiplexing methods of multiple service channels under realistic file transfer protocol (FTP) traffic model. With FTP traffic model, a terminal is assigned a finite payload to transmit when it arrives, and it leaves the system after the payload transmission is completed. This FTP traffic model is more realistic than the full-buffer traffic model, and we evaluate the effects of multiplexing methods on the number of active terminals and the distribution of terminal positions. Computer simulation results show that dynamic frequency bandwidth allocation method improves the integrated system-level throughput compared to the semi-static approach by allocating more frequency bandwidth to the service experiencing higher terminal arrival rate.
