A Quad-Band Branched Monopole Antenna with Filters Suppressing Higher-Mode

(in English) This paper proposes a compact quad-band antenna with filters suppressing higher-mode. A quad-band is obtained by a simple structure consisting of branch-elements. Filters are loaded at the roots of low-band elements to suppress the higher-mode. The filters are located near the ground to adjust the parameters of the filters easily. First, operation principles of an ideal filter-loaded antenna are described. Next, a band-pass filter (BPF)-loaded antenna and a low-pass filter (LPF)-loaded antenna are compared. As a result, VSWR characteristic of the BPF-loaded antenna agrees with that of the ideal filter-loaded antenna. Last, it is clarified that desirable VSWR characteristic and filter-loss can be achieved by designing the filters with the suitable quality factor.
