Notes on Optical CDMA Systems Using Bi-orthogonal Codes and EWO Signaling

(in English) In this paper, two new schemes are proposed for synchronous optical code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems which support multi-rate data transmission. These two schemes adopt extended bi-orthogonal codes with different code-lengths in combination with equal-weight orthogonal (EWO) signaling. One scheme uses extended bi-orthogonal codes only, and the other uses a generalized modified prime sequence code (GMPSC) and extended bi-orthogonal codes. It is shown that the proposed schemes realize data rate with an arbitrary number of levels, while retaining the capability of canceling multi-user interference. This paper investigates the number of users and the total data rate for each proposed scheme. This paper also evaluates bit error rate performance of the proposed schemes under the thermal noise environment.
