As the problem when using a double-lumen vascular access catheter for dialysis, there is an accidentally incomplete blood removal due to the "sticking phenomenon" in which the blood vessel wall closes the inlet hole of the catheter. The purpose of this study is to clarify the mechanism of the sticking phenomenon and its avoiding method. In this report, we conducted an experiment using the blood vessel model and blood analog fluid and observed the catheter and the blood vessel wall using an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. We examined the occurrence of sticking phenomenon by changing the indwelling position of the catheter. From the results, we found that the lower minimum gap between the catheter and the vessel wall induces the sticking phenomenon. |
