Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In human vision, the perception of flicker stimuli depends upon the frequency of the flicker. Moreover, when our vision observes moving objects, they are observed as being blurred or being sharpened. Such phenomena have been explained by a model that describes impulse responses derived from the temporal frequency response function of vision. However, this model cannot explain certain characteristics of these phenomena. This study shows that the FitzHugh-Nagumo equation can describe the temporal frequency response with these characteristics of vision, such that the response curves depend on the mean magnitude of input stimuli. Therefore, the FitzHugh-Nagumo equation can be used as a prototype to construct precise models for describing the time responses in vision.
