The focused beam method and the parallel beam method, which are used as electrical constant measurement methods mainly for millimeter wave frequencies, can be used to evaluate material anisotropy and Faraday rotation, but the two measurement methods have different advantages or disadvantages. Therefore, our objective is to construct and evaluate a measurement system that can measure not only isotropic but also anisotropic materials by using the MUT to select the focused / parallel beam method. On the other hand, the procedure for calculating the transmission and reflection characteristics of the MUT was reviewed. Since a focused beam has a spread of wave numbers, a systematic error occurs when the focused beam is handled in a manner similar to a plane wave having a single wave number. We have previously reported how to calculate this more accurately based on the plane wave spectrum expansion of the focused beam. The method for determining the coefficients of Booker's quartic equation that holds in anisotropic media has been changed from a numerical method to a quasi-analytical method. In addition, the above systematic error evaluation was reexamined by a new calculation procedure. |
