| (in English) | This paper describes our ongoing work on developing a communication assistive system for an ALS patient who already had a tracheostomy. We developed a speech database from his recorded voice for “Voistar” a speech synthesizer developed by HST and connected to Tobii Communicator 5, an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) software that the patient has been using. Since the database is smaller than the standard size for Voistar, heuristic approaches such as manual editing of the wave files are necessary. We also customized the interface of the Tobii Communicator 5 using the Sono Key feature, a page set provided by Tobbi to make it easier for the patient to select the phrases he uses often. | |
