Weighted-BP has been proposed so as to compensate the shortcoming of BP decoding of high-density parity-check (HDPC) codes, e.g., BCH codes, by finding appropriate message weights using an neural network representation that is equivalent to the message transmission in BP over the Tanner graph. In the conventional weighted-BP, message weights are learned based on the training pair of transmitted codeword and its noisy received version. However, this may deteriorate the learning efficiency as well as the resulting decoding performance since the noise that cannot be mitigated by MAP decoding can be imposed on the received symbols. In this report, we investigate the performance improvement of the weighted-BP by filtering out such pairs from the training data, and instead, using the pair of MAP-decoded codeword and the received symbol for training. |
