The standardization and technology development of 5th generation (5G) mobile communication system have been completed and its service will be started in March 2020. In 5G systems, a high frequency range, for example, 28 GHz band will be used to secure a wide frequency bandwidth for high-speed data transmission. But, the received power (SNR) degrades considerably due to the reduction of antenna aperture area in such a frequency band. To compensate this power degradation, 5G adopts the numerous elements array antenna system named as massive MIMO transmission system, and improves the SNR by antenna directive gain. However, a radio wave in highly frequency has the aptitude which goes straight more strongly, and then the increase of propagation loss due to path shadowing objects induces the SNR degradation, and the result influences transmission performances. Those influences have been investigated experimentally, but the cell designing method has not been established yet. Because experimental ways have some limitations in temporal and in labor costs for establishing it, so it is desired to consider through some theoretical methods using some calculation models with generality. This manuscript summarizes some path shadowing models for outdoor and indoor environments which have been developed in author’s laboratory, and introduces an example of performance evaluation related with the transmission capacity for 28 GHz band massive MIMO in a street microcell by applying these path shadowing models. |
