Light-weight and High Power Rectenna for Microwave Power Transfer to Small-sized Drones.

(in English) Drones have been attracting a lot of attention from many kinds of industries, such as delivery or structure inspection. However, they have a problem that its battery lifetime is too short to be employed on those applications. To enhance aviation time of drones, we install microwave power transfer system into small-sized drones. X400BW consumes direct current power of 18.5 W and it originally has a LiPo battery whose weight is 15g. When replacing it with a rectenna array, a single element is required to be a power-to-weight ratio (PBR) of 1.23 W/g. In this work, we developed 5.74 GHz rectifiers and confirmed that a light-weight and high power rectifier with PBR of 5.1 W/g is feasible by theoretical calculations and circuit simulations.
