Opportunistic Routing for Heterogeneous IoT Network

(in English) In IoT~(Internet of Things) networks, terminals such as sensors send collected data to Cloud systems through IoT gateways.
Such IoT networks generally composed of terminals with multiple communication technologies.
IoT gateway can convert all communication standards,
however, deploying bunch of IoT geteways is costly in many ways.
Thus, SSGW, which can only convert specific communication technologies, is introduced to reduce the cost maintaining the connectivity.
Although some routing protocols with SSGW using specific fixed routes has been proposed,
they are difficult to respond to traffic dynamics flexibly.
This research addresses the issue with a novel opportunistic routing that employs broadcast-based forwarding for IoT networks with SSGW. The proposed method employs ETX as a routing metric to select reliable link. The main objective of the proposed method is to improve communication performance and banlance loads in dynamic environments.
The simulations clarify the effectiveness of the proposed routing protocol from the viewpoint of
delay and load balancing.
