Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Small DC motors with brushes are widely used especially in automobiles, and requested for smaller size and higher output. So, high rotation speed motors are required. So far, it has been clarified that commutation arc has significant effect on brush wear/erosion and the performance of DC motors.
In this paper, it is clarified how copper content, carbon type and baking temperature affect commutation, arc discharge and brush wear/erosion, using four kinds of brushes. Consequently the brush of copper content 30% and natural graphite base is found the best for wear and erosion.
