| (in English) | The research and development (R&D) of the 6th Generation (6G) mobile networking technologies has started all over the world. Globally, we observe ITU-T Focus Group called NET2030 has been established to discuss use cases in 6G, and IEEE has defined KPI of 6G technologies as well as use cases. In Europe, 6Genesis project at University of Oulu in Finland and BRAVE project utilizing sub-terahertz frequency bands have been established, and Ericsson research has started discussion on 6G. In U.S., Nokia-Bell Lab has started investing on 6G R&D and the wireless group of New York University has started 6G research as part of the PAWR project. In Asia, ETRI in Korea has defined the 6G vision plans together with Korean government, and Samsung has started 6G R&D, while Chinese government has initiated promotion of 6G R&D. In Japan, MIC has organized a study group in 2019 on wired networking in Beyond 5G and has finalized the report in Feb., 2020. Also, in Jan., 2020, MIC has initiated a Beyond 5G promotion discussion group under supervision of the president of the University of Tokyo, and aims to finalize the future directions for 6G in coming Jun., 2020. Also, such telecommunication companies as NTT Docomo and KDDI have announced the visions of 6G. In this invited talk, we introduce the global landscape of the current activities of 6G R&D and of the domestic situations and discuss the future directions for R&D of 6G. |
