A Consideration of Loss Analysis Method for Magnetic Transformer in LLC DC-DC Converter

(in English) LLC DC-DC converters can achieve high power density and high power efficiency, and are used in many applications. The power density can be improved by increasing the switching frequency. However, increasing the frequency may increase the power loss of semiconductor devices and transformers in the circuit. The loss basically becomes heat and causes deterioration and destruction of the device. Therefore, heat measures are indispensable in circuit design, and it is important to predict the loss that occurs to do heat measures. In this paper, we describe a loss analysis method that considers the frequency dependence of magnetic transformers using measured data, simulations, and theoretical equations. Moreover, we show the results of transformer loss analysis when the analysis target is a 100kHz / 300W LLC DC-DC converter.
