Accuracy evaluation of drone control system using total station

(in English) In the field of agriculture, labor savings are required by utilizing robot technology and information and communication technology to solve labor shortage. In order to survey plants in a sunlight-type plant factory, authors have been investigating a severance method using a drone that flies automatically to take a picture of the growth of the plants. Plant factories are indoor and have limited flight space. In order to survey plants with an automated drone, high-precision automatic flight with an error of 1 m or less is required. Although automatic flight using GNSS positioning technology is mainly used in automatic drone flight, the plant factory is in an indoor environment and radio signals from GNSS satellites might not be received stably, so automatic flight using GNSS positioning technology cannot be applied. In this paper, we propose a drone control system that measure the position of the drone with the automatic tracking total station, send the position from the total station to the control PC, determine the control command for the drone in the control PC, and send the control command to the drone from the control PC to control the drone and verify the flight accuracy by experiments using actual machines.
