We improved the sound source direction estimation performance in a room by using the MUSIC method with peak hold (PH) processing to suppress the reflected sound. However, even with PH processing, there is a problem that the estimated direction is biased toward 0 degree in the low-frequency band, causing erroneous estimation. In this study, a simulation using a theoretical spatial correlation matrix of late reverberation (diffused sound) is first conducted to examine the estimation degradation in the low-frequency band. The simulation results showed the same degradation in the low-frequency band as in a real-room experiment, and it was found that the degraded estimation is due to the diffused sound. Then the degraded band affected by the diffused sound was removed by weighting using eigenvalues and eigenvectors calculated by the eigenvalue decomposition of the spatial correlation matrix, and the estimation accuracy was further improved. |
