Frequency Variation of Ring Oscillators During Long-Time Operation on FPGA
Shingo Tsutsumi, Yukiya Miura (Tokyo Metropolitan Univ.) DC2019-95
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) are integrated circuits that can be implemented arbitrary logic functions by reconfiguration. In LSIs, ROs (Ring Oscillators) are generally used as various monitor circuits. When the RO is implemented in FPGA, various circuits are constructed by automatic placement and routing. In FPGA, the operating speed changes depending on the circuit structure conditions, and the heat generation of the circuit also changes. In general LSIs, the operating speed of the circuit decreases as the chip temperature rises, and the circuit characteristics also change. Therefore, we measured the oscillation frequency of the RO implemented on FPGA when the RO functioned for a long time under various conditions. In this way, the change of RO characteristics caused by the RO structure condition is evaluated from measurement of the oscillation frequency.
