In order to minimize a log-periodic antenna, top loaded monopoles that have non-uniform height are arranged as a log-periodic monopole array (LPMA). The LPMA consisted of three elements is designed under the limitation of hemi-spherical size with radius of 0.1 wavelength. Each element consists of a rectangular-plate top load to adjust to desired resonant frequency. A folded structure at the feeding portion is emploied to have impedance matching with feeding impedance of 50 $Omega$. To realize the characteristics of end-fire array, microstrip line is used to feeding circuit, and tune the length to take desired phase. As results, impedance bandwidth of nearly 38~% for VSWR $le$ 3 and realized gain bandwidth of nealy 27~% under 3dB were obtained for the center frequency of 1.5GHz. The maximum realized gain was 3.4dBi at 1.5GHz. |
