Verification on High Speed Networks for Adaptive Link Rate Switching Using MPTCP in SDN-based Networks for Power Savings

(in English) Recently, Internet traffics have rapidly increased and it is very important issue to reduce power consumption of network devices. However, there is a tradeoff relation between power savings of network devices and improvement of network performance. To provide network performance corresponding to traffic amount and achieve power savings, the authors proposed an adaptive link rate switching method using MPTCP (Multi-Path TCP) in SDN-based (Software Defined Network-based) networks for power-savings and verified the effectiveness of the proposed method in a real network. It is expected that 10Gbps bandwidth will be used between switches, but the verification experiments only switched the link rate between 100Mbps and 1Gbps. Then, this paper verifies the effectiveness even when the link rate is switched between 1Gbps and 10Gbps.
