Denoising of Brillouin gain spectrum via dictionary learning considering strain variation

(in English) In the optical fiber strain measurement using the Brillouin scattering phenomenon, the strain is obtained through the analysis of the Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) observed in the optical fiber used as a sensor. In this strain measurement, the noise included in the observed BGS causes measurement errors. In this report, we propose a BGS denoising method using dictionary learning, which is one of machine learning methods. The feature of this method is that a dictionary, namely a set of bases composing the dictionary more suitable for noise removal is created by selecting BGS regions in consideration of strain variation. The results investigated by numerical simulation are described, about the reduction effects of the noise included in the BGS observed in the optical fiber installed at the ring circumference and the strain measurement error.
