Comprehensive study of photocarrier generation depending on external electric field

(in English) Photocarrier generation efficiency of organic photoconductors for electrophotography are known to be quite small at low electric fields, while an admirably high efficiency which approaches 1.0 at high fields is also recognized. This means that organic photovoltaics driven at low electric field scarcely functions to generate electric power. It is therefore worthwhile to quantify electric-field-dependent photocarrier generation efficiency of organic photoconductors reported, since it will provide an insight for a development of novel organic devices. Firstly, formulation of the field-dependent efficiency has been carried out to enumerate that of a highly sensitive photoconductor. Next, its applicability to differently structured photoconductors has been discussed to illuminate parameters of the rate-determining process.
