Development of body scanner in the terahertz region using the FMCW method

(in English) Due to the recent development in the generation and detection techniques for terahertz (THz) waves, various applications using THz waves have been proposed. Recently, security and safety related applications are strongly required because of the recent social and political situation in the world. One of such applications is the inspection and detection of hazardous metals hidden inside the clothes, such as guns, knives, nails, and iron balls. In this presentation, we propose and describe a metal dangerous substance radar hidden inside the clothes by using the frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) method. For practical use, we developed a body scanner imaging system using a THz transceiver having 275-305 GHz frequencies.
