Highly Sensitive Detection of Proteins by Organic Transistors Functionalized with Metal Complex-Type Artificial Receptors

(in English) Protein sensors with artificial receptors are still a challenging task despite their attractive features such as chemical / physical stability, low cost, and the ability to tailor the selectivity for the target species. In this study, we describe the development of protein sensor devices consisting of organic field effect transistors (OFETs) and artificial receptors. By modifying the gate electrodes with artificial receptors, the protein recognition phenomena on the electrodes can be read out directly and electrically. Furthermore, OFETs are expected to enable on-site analysis of target proteins because data processing and data transfer systems can be integrated on one chip. Herein, we describe our recent progress including design strategies for OFETs and artificial receptor materials toward sensitive protein detection, and practical results for each target proteins.
