(in English) In the complicated social environment, the innovation including the correspondence to the social problem is required.. In the research for the realization of the innovation, not only the search of the theory but also the practice is strongly required in the research. In this paper, authors outlined the history of design research, and discussed the role of the present academia in the junction of practice and theory.
