Decreasing VR Sickness by information reduction using gaze position

(in English) Recently, despite the release of VR-related devices for the general public, the VR industry is stagnant. The reason is that the number of users decreased by avoiding VR sickness. The purpose of this study was to suppress VR sickness by applying a suppression method of “blurring the peripheral vision”. This method was proposed based on the assumption that the amount of movement information in the video is responsible for VR sickness. The amount of movement information is reduced by blurring, and the presence is maintained by limiting the range to the peripheral vision. As a result of the evaluation experiment, it was possible to suppress VR sickness while suppressing a decrease in the presence. We also considered the factors that reduce the presence and the conditions under which VR sickness is amplified.
