Study on metasurface application for wireless power transfer efficiency

(in English) By installing a rectenna array composed of a half-wave length antenna near the rectenna for power transmission, a waveguiding action is created and power can be propagated. However, since this antenna applies the principle of the Yagi-Uda antenna, in order to increase the power transmission efficiency, there are restrictions on the distance between elements constituting the array, the element length, etc., and the antenna cannot be freely arranged. On the other hand, the maximum radiation direction of the dipole antenna can be controlled by arranging the metasurface near the half-wave dipole and controlling the reflection phase of the elements constituting the metasurface. Therefore, in this study, we examined the transmission of power to the element placed at an arbitrary position by changing the maximum radiation direction using the metasurface as a reflector. As a result, it was clarified that wireless power transmission efficiency can be increased by installing a metasurface and directing the radiation direction to the receiving rectenna.
