[Invited Lecture] Development of a Spectrum Usage Measurement System for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In dynamic spectrum sharing, statistical information in terms of spectrum usage such as spectrum occupancy
rate is useful. However, the spectrum usage highly depends on time, frequency and location. Thus, it is
important for the dynamic spectrum sharing with high granularity to develop spectrum usage measurement systems
consisting of several measurement sensors. We have developed several efficient (highly accurate and low cost)
algorithms for the spectrum usage measurement, modeling methods for spectrum occupancy rate, and spectrum
occupancy prediction methods exploiting the linear time-series analysis and machine learning. In this presentation,
we introduce our developed spectrum usage measurement system prototype. Specifically, we introduce several signal
processing techniques such as spectrum analysis and signal detection for the I-Q data obtained by the measurement
sensors. Furthermore, we verify with the measured data over several wireless systems such as WLAN system and
LTE system that it is important for the accurate measurement to incorporate time and frequency information of
the system to be observed into the measurement signal processing.
