[Poster Presentation] Application of Machine Learning to Optical Eigenvalue Communication

(in English) Development and innovations of transmission technology that will increase the transmission capacity of optical communication systems are required to meet demand on the increase in Internet traffic. However, the Kerr-nonlinearity in optical fibers limits the transmission capacity in the long-haul transmission system. To overcome the limit, optical eigenvalue modulation scheme has been paid attention recently because it is unaffected by the Kerr-nonlinearity. However, upon demodulating the eigenvalue modulated signal, the problem is that eigenvalue deviation due to noise is different from the signal point deviation of the conventional modulation schemes, such as phase shift keying and quadrature amplitude modulation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new demodulation method for the eigenvalue modulated signal. In this report, we introduce an artificial neural network-based demodulator for the eigenvalue modulated signal.
