Design of Wideband Microstrip Filtering Antenna with Transmission Zeros

(in English) In this paper, we propose and design a new structure of microstrip filtering antenna having both a wideband and flat in-band gain characteristic and a high skirt selectivity because of the generation of transmission zeros. Although conventional filtering antennas can realize a wideband passband response and can also generate transmission zeros at stopbands, it is hard to design transmission zeros at specified frequencies owing to their physical structures. Furthermore, the in-band gain response is greatly degraded by frequency dependency of multiple resonance modes. To solve the problems, this paper introduces a step-impedance open stub for the generation of transmission zeros, and employs a single patch antenna for a wideband and flat in-band gain. As an example, we design a fifth-order microstrip filtering antenna with center frequency of 4 GHz, fractional bandwidth of 20%, and transmission zeros. The effectiveness of the proposed filtering antenna is verified by EM-simulated reflection and radiation characteristics.
