Design of Compact Uniplanar Rat-Race Circuit with Broadband Characteristics at 2.45GHz

(in English) Rat-race circuits (RRCs) are used as important circuit elements that play combining/dividing of microwave signals. The RRCs large circuit areas at low frequencies because the have a total ring length of 3/2-wave-length. Also, the operation frequency band is limited due to half-wave line at 3/4-wavelength line part treated as a phase inverter. In this paper, to solve these problems, RRCs utilizing shunt capacitors and an ideal phase inverter with a uniplanar structure are designed in 2.45 GHz band, and realize compact/wideband characteristics. It was
shown that relative bandwidth was more than 50% with a circuit size about 1/10 that of the conventional circuit, and electromagnetic simulations and experiments are conducted.
